If renting a car in a foreign country, check with your credit card company to see if they will insure you in that country. If not, then pay for the local insurance as it will be worth it in case you get in an accident.

Get a GPS when you rent a car internationally
If you rent a car in a foreign city, get a GPS with it... In some countries there may not be street names! Costa Rica is one example where many streets do not have their names posted.

Use texting internationally
When traveling internationally, if you do not already have international texting contact your mobile phone company before leaving home to have this turned on. It is much cheaper to text than to talk.
